Planning Tips :: 4 Common Questions to Ask Caterers

Every event needs amazing food! Depending on where you have your event, you might need to do some research on caterers in the area. Some venues provide their own caterers, while some venues require you to bring in an outside catering company. Either way, it's very important to get all the information you need before making a decision and signing on the dotted line! Landerhaven Executive Caterers suggests asking the following questions before hiring the caterer for your event:

1. How Much Will it Cost?
The cost of the catering service will vary from caterer to caterer, so make sure you do your research and get several quotes. In order to get the most precise answer, you’ll need to figure out what kind of catering service you need. Do you plan to have a sit-down dinner, serve hors d’oeuvre, or host a buffet-style meal? The answer to this question will determine the cost of the catering service.

2. What Food Can You Make?
If you plan to invite quests who have special food requirements, then you’ll need to ask whether your potential caterer can accommodate their food allergies or other special needs. If you’re hosting a unique cultural event, you’ll want to ask whether the potential caterer has experience cooking the foods you hope to serve.

3. What is Included in the Catering Service?
It is also important to ask what is included in the catering service. For example, you should ask whether the caterer will provide dishes, serving utensils, flatware, china, glassware, napkins, table décor, and other necessities.

4. Can I Taste the Food?
Just as you wouldn’t buy a car without taking it for a test drive first, you should ask to test the food before you decide on a catering service.
